Atheism Awaits the Sahajiyas

December, 2019

by Kailasa Candra dasa

“A devotee who is satisfied only with his own sense gratification certainly falls down from the service of Kåñëa. Being attracted by material happiness, he later joins the präkåta-sahajiyäs, who are considered to be non-devotees.”
Antya Lélä, 20.55, purport

“Don’t try to do anything artificially. That is sahajiyä, which means a class of men that take everything very cheap.”
Letter to Himaväté, 6-15-72

By denying scientific principles, one may maintain any paradox.”
Galileo

The inherent disease of humanity is atheism. To misunderstand Kåñëa consciousness—and yet to consider oneself a great devotee–is to risk becoming either a fanatic or a sentimentalist. Kåñëa consciousness is the science of the Absolute. It should best be understood in that light. This is what His Divine Grace Çréla Prabhupäda presented. Due to complacency and carelessness, to deny the science (or to misunderstand it) is to soon qualify as a sahajiyä. The fabricated, so-called “ISKCON” confederation is loaded with these kinds of cheap gurus and cheap disciples.

The Grand Inquisitor Revisited

November, 2019

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

“Yesterday, Janärdana took me to a nice church here called Notre Dame . . . with colorful figures and windows, decorated with nicely painted pictures about the Crucifixion of Lord Jesus Christ. Everything was grotesque.”
Letter to Aniruddha, 7-7-68

In order to allegedly correct his error, has the fabricated, so-called “ISKCON” confederation created an alternative to what Prabhupäda actually wanted? Now, this question is not entirely new. My answer will include interesting explanations for all of you, but the question itself has been raised before, even in a previous century.

Descent Into G.B.C. Dystopia

September, 2019

Fourth of a Four-Part Series

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

This is not some sectarian faith, but it is eternal truth.”
Letter to Mr. Nyamiaka, 11-10-75

“. . . you must be very careful to make sure that my name is registered there as the Founder-Äcärya and that I am to be the ultimate authority.”
Letter to Kuruçreñöha, 12-28-74

I guess every form of refuge has its price.
The Eagles, “You Can’t Hide Your Lyin’ Eyes”

It is incumbent upon all Vaiñëava commentators to present valid arguments against the popularity claptrap pushed by the fabricated, so-called “ISKCON” confederation. This entails presenting a counterpoint to its institutionalism. We all require a much larger scope, a universal vision, an outlook no longer moored within a limited time-frame that facilitates covering over the glaring contradictions of “ISKCON.”

Descent Into G.B.C. Dystopia

August, 2019

Third of a Four-Part Series

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

Please be careful not to change the ideas.”
Letter to Kirtänänanda, 2-10-67

“ . . . by nature, the people of India have a hankering for spiritual advancement, and, therefore, the present situation is a natural result of the clash between two opposite ideals.”
Letter to Mr. Kair, 7-8-69

The past is never past. It is always present.
And you better reckon with it in your daily experience.
Or it will get you. It will get you really bad.”
Bruce Springsteen

The relationship between ideas and ideals in Kåñëa consciousness is integrally connected. The relationship between the past and the present is similarly interrelated. That principle also applies within the Western bhakti movement, both in its previous and present iteration. As far as the scope of eternity is concerned, the clash of civilizations in the world at this time has no lasting relevance. Conversely, the clashes between Western sahajiyä groups—all of which are suppressing Çréla Prabhupäda’s branch of Lord Caitanya’s Hare Kåñëa movement of Kåñëa consciousness—has significant import. The fact that conditioned souls in the ordinary mix do not recognize this has no bearing on its impact.

Descent Into G.B.C. Dystopia

July, 2019

Second of a Four-Part Series

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

“People have respect for our movement. Now it is time for G.B.C. members to be very, very careful so that people may not point out any black spot in the behavior of our Society.”
Letter to T.K.G., 9-1-71

“Again, I am so much burdened by this administrative work that I feel great difficulty. I was very anxious to return to my Los Angeles home to sit down for translating work. But if you all, my right-hand men, are doing things without consulting me and making such big big changes within our Society without getting my opinion and the opinion of all the G.B.C. members, then what can I do?
Letter to Rüpänuga, 4-4-72

Sahajiyas of the “ISKCON” Apa-sampradaya

Cooper

May, 2019

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

Prabhupäda: These sahajiyäs will come out of so many devotees. What can be done? From my guru mahäräja’s disciples, so many sahajiyäs came. These are called sahajiyäs. Very easily they capture (the) thing. So my guru mahäräja used to say, “When my disciples will be sahajiyä, it will be more dangerous.”
Leading Secretary: Is it because we have the desire to come in contact with such persons that we contact them?
Prabhupäda: You may not desire, but if you are not strong, you’ll be misled by these rascals.
Room Conversation, 1-28-77, in Bhubaneçvara, India

“In the name of Caitanya Mahäprabhu, there are so many apa-sampradäyas. Apa-sampradäya means they present themselves as belonging to the Caitanya cult, but they are not at all bona fide. They are rejected.”
Platform Lecture, 1-28-73, in Calcutta, India

“ISKCON”: A Rebellion Moored in Nihilism

Cersei-Lannister

April, 2019

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

“The symptoms of the Kali-yuga, as mentioned above, namely avarice, falsehood, diplomacy, cheating, nepotism, violence and all such things, are already in vogue, and no one can imagine what is going to happen gradually with further increase of the influence of Kali until the day of annihilation.”
Çrémad-Bhägavatam, 1.15.37, purport

The Politics of “ISKCON” Inevitability

August, 2018

Part One of a Two-Part Series

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

“. . . there are many rascals in the name of Vaiñëavas. Be careful of them.”
Letter to Niraïjan, 11-21-72

The aim of ISKCON is not to found a new religious sect . . .”
Letter to Sir Roland Michener

You will be hollow. We shall squeeze you empty.
And then we shall fill you with ourselves.”
George Orwell, “1984”

Someone may be honored as a man of God in this degraded age, but his being so honored does not automatically make it so. People are easily deluded and misguided in Kali-yuga. If you think that this does not go on in the name of Kåñëa–or in what appears to be the Kåñëa consciousness movement–guess again. The fresh princes of “ISKCON” cut quite the profile, no doubt, but that does not mean that they are actually men of God. They are not as reliable or as honest or as loving as they superficially may appear to be.

The Next Black Swan

June, 2018

First of a Two-Part Series

by Kailäsa Candra däsa

“These things must be cleared up or there may be danger of split within our ranks. Try to keep the whole situation in unified condition. But if Siddha Svarüpa and his disciples are living there separately and peacefully, I have no objection, so long there is no controversy or ill feelings between their camp and yours.”
Letter to Madhudvéña, 12-29-72

“Çréla Prabhupäda wanted us to do everything in complete cooperation, and thus I am inclined to have full cooperation in this great attempt of preaching in the foreign countries. All the camps of our various camps may at least cooperate . . .”
Letter to Mädhava Maharäj, 8-1-66

Realities are determined by whoever determines them.”
